Easter
In Christianity, Easter is the biggest holiday, along with Christmas, as it celebrates the “resurrection” of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross and rose again on the third day. The egg is a symbol of the beginning of life, and is considered the symbol of Easter because “the appearance of the egg breaking its shell and being born after spending time inside the shell represents the resurrection of Christ.
Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon, which is the first full moon on or after 21 March (a fixed approximation of the March equinox).
The Flower Day Service
The Flower Day Service is a Christian event. It is said to have originated in a church in Massachusetts, U.S.A., where children were gathered for a special service in June.
This is also the time when summer flowers begin to bloom. People began to bring flowers to decorate the chapel and bring them to visit and comfort the sick.
Anniversary of the founding of the Church
Koganei Nishinodai Church was founded on September 16, 1956.
Children’s Blessing Day
In Japan, there is a custom to pray for the healthy growth of children, and in the Christian church, we pray every year that God will bless the lives of our children. Every year, on a Sunday in late autumn, we hold a Children’s Blessing Ceremony in our worship service.
Christmas Candlelight Service
Jesus Christ is compared to light in the Bible. The Church commemorates the Nativity with a candlelight service.
I have come into the world as light, so that everyone who believe in me should not remain in the darkness. (John 12:46)
